Ehrlichiosis is a disease caused by Ehrlichia ruminantium – an obligate intracellular bacterium that causes heart water (wadne biyod in Somali, sometimes called also “muqlo”. The disease is endemic in Sahil region of Somaliland and community especially Sheikh Community bring their animals for treatments at IGAD Sheikh Technical University of Science’s clinic. The ISTUS clinic outreach program successfully helps community in giving free veterinary service with small charge for the medicines to be replenished to continue servicing the community.

However sometimes, people bring sick animals when they are in very advanced stages like the lamb in figure 1 and video which was presented on 16 March 2021 and has died while the team were trying to treat. The lamb was in right recumbency, grinding the teeth and galloping. And these are the last signs and Ehrlichiosis affected animals show.
