Agro-forestry is integrated land use management system in which trees; shrubs are grown among the crops or pasture to maintain and increase the production. To achieve these issues in Somaliland, three days (12th -14th April 2021) training on Agro-forestry value chain was conducted in Odweyne district, the training focused on Agro-forestry value chain. The training hosted by ISTVS and implemented by World vision. It focused on important and economical contributions of agro-forestry to the communities and agro-forestry value chain from the production to consumption. However, since the farmer communities in Odweyne have not adopted the system and the only uses of the acacia trees is to burn trees for charcoal and logging as well as fencing purposes, trainers discussed with these communities members and tried to change farmer’s attitude towards the trees and the best way to be managed to sustain the natural resources available in the this areas, apart from the Agro-forestry value chain this training covered more topics such as sesame, prosopis and livestock value chain. The targeted villages were: Gosol, Asho’ado, Galoley, Elbil’inle, Gatetaley and Beerato. The main purpose of the training was to train Agro-forestry value chain to FMNR champions and village development committee. Actually the training was so fruitful and almost all the participants were interactive during every session of training.
